AEI\/FEDER, UE, in collaboration with the Department of English, French and German\u00a0\u00a0hosted the 19th International AEDEI\u00a0 virtual Conference &#8221; Silences and Inconvenient Truths in Irish Culture and Society&#8221;, May 27-28, 2021. The event was organised by department member M. Teresa Caneda Cabrera. The organising committee included NETEC research group members Mart\u00edn Urdiales Shaw, Jorge Figueroa Dorrego, Araceli Gonz\u00e1lez Cresp\u00e1n and PhD student Iria Seijas P\u00e9rez.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aedei2020.wixsite.com\/vigoconference\">19th AEDEI Conference \u201cSilences and Inconvenient Truths in Irish Culture and Society\u201d<\/a>\u00a0addressed the complex and multifaceted topic of silence by exploring how it is embedded in language, culture, society and institutions and provided a forum for the debate of alternative ways to discuss uses (and abuses) of silence in the Irish context.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony and the plenary and panel sessions can be acessed\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tv.uvigo.es\/series\/60db1e52d5e35a5917581a39\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Research Project\u00a0inTRUTHS\u00a0\u00a0FFI2017-84619-P.
