LVTC is organising SELIM2016 and BICLCE2017

The LVTC research group is organising two international conferences, which will take place in 2016 and 2017, respectively. On the one hand, during the 27th International Conference of the Spanish Society for Medieval English Language and Literature (SELIM), hosted by the University of Granada, it was announced that LVTC will organise the 28th International Conference of the Society in Vigo, on 17-19 September 2016. The following plenary speakers have confirmed their attendance: Prof. Richard North (UCL), Dr. Stuart Lee (Oxford), Prof. Ans van Kemenade (Radboud Universiteit, Nijmegen) and Dr. Belén Méndez Naya (USC). Since its foundation in 1988, the aim of SELIM has always been to promote and foster research on all aspects related to Medieval English Language, Literature and Culture. On the other hand, at BICLCE6, celebrated at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in August 2015, it was announced that LVTC will organise the 7th International Conference on the Linguistics of Contemporary English (BICLCE2017) in Vigo, on 28-30 September 2017.The aim of the BICLCE conferences is to encourage the cross-fertilization of ideas between different frameworks and research traditions, all of which may address any aspect of the linguistics of contemporary English. Traditionally, syntax (specifically constructions), sociolinguistics, variation and discourse analysis are some of the focus areas of the conference. Previous BICLCE conferences were held in Edinburgh (2005), Toulouse (2007), London (2009), Osnabrück (2011), Austin, TX (2013) and Wisconsin-Madison (2015), along the same lines.
