19th International AEDEI virtual Conference: Silences and Inconvenient Truths In Irish Culture and Society

The Research Project inTRUTHS  FFI2017-84619-P. AEI/FEDER, UE, in collaboration with the Department of English, French and German  hosted the 19th International AEDEI  virtual Conference ” Silences and Inconvenient Truths in Irish Culture and Society”, May 27-28, 2021. The event was organised by department member M. Teresa Caneda Cabrera. The organising committee included NETEC research group members Martín Urdiales Shaw, Jorge Figueroa Dorrego, Araceli González Crespán and PhD student Iria Seijas Pérez.

The 19th AEDEI Conference “Silences and Inconvenient Truths in Irish Culture and Society” addressed the complex and multifaceted topic of silence by exploring how it is embedded in language, culture, society and institutions and provided a forum for the debate of alternative ways to discuss uses (and abuses) of silence in the Irish context.
